I had been in denial my whole life. I'm 30. I knew the way animals were treated was horrible and bad for the environment, but I was able to forget that when I was hungry. I didn't even need to read the book, although I have it on order. Just hearing JSF interviewed on NPR for an hour convinced me to finally become a vegetarian. And I soon will work on becoming a vegan. I already ate pretty healthily, and I feel this is the final step. I train hard in martial arts, go the gym all the time, and push my body to the limit. It's been nearly 2 weeks and I'm doing great. The idea that one can't get enough protein is bogus.

I've started a blog to document my struggles and successes and adventures. http://www.iquiteatingmeat.blogspot.com

That is so completely awesome. I think a lot of people are in some kind of meat-eating trance, and it's wonderful when they're snapped out of it and awaken to the harsh reality of what they're really doing, supporting an extraordinarily cruel institution.

You say you work out hard, which made me remember a book that's one of my "Amazon Recommendations", that is, books that Amazon recommends to me. It's called "Thrive Fitness: The Vegan-Based Training Program for Maximum Strength, Health, and Fitness". The book hasn't been released yet, but I thought maybe you'd be interested in checking it out when it does.

Thanks for the support Robot Monster! I'll check out that book for sure. I've been trying to find a good vegan athlete book, but so far I've only found them for marathon runners. Or they were written so long ago I don't trust them.

And I really like your phrase "meat-eating trance." It's a perfect description. And I'm so glad to have snapped out of it.
